A website called “ScreenGeek” has also shared a report, which
alludes to the fact that the veteran actor Willem Dafoe has been seen shooting
scenes for the upcoming MCU tentpole Spider-Man 3 starring Tom Holland,
Zendaya, and possibly Tobey Maguire as well.
However, as far as Tom Holland is concerned, he hasn’t got any
bit of information that the two previous actors of Spider-Man, i.e., Tobey
Maguire and Andrew Garfield, will be in the film. But, there is the slightest
of the possibility that the information has been kept hidden from him on
purpose since he hasn’t been pretty reliable in keeping secrets.
The production of Spider-Man 3 is picking up pace, and every
rumor and report is exciting for the Marvel fans. Several reports from several
reliable sources have reported that a team of villains from preceding
Spider-Man films and the ongoing Tom-Holland starrer franchise will make an
appearance in Spider-Man 3.
However, we should remind ourselves that only two actors have
been confirmed for a comeback, which includes Project Power actor Jamie Foxx in
the role of Electro and Spider-Man 2 villain Alfred Molina in the role of
Doctor Octopus.
Apart from those two, several rumors and whispers doing the
rounds of the internet have also alluded to the fact that the villain of the
first Tobey Maguire starrer Spider-Man film, Willem Dafoe, will be back as
Green Goblin in the third Tom Holland starrer MCU based Spider-Man film.
The casting is in accordance with the claims made by Kevin
Feige, who had revealed in one of his earlier interviews that the phase 4 plans
would be based on multiverse theories.
A similar theory has also been generated by GWW, who had
previously claimed that Alfred Molina would re-portray the role of Doctor
Octopus in the Tom Holland starrer third Spider-Man film. They are now pretty
confident that people have seen that the longtime collaborator of Abel Ferrara,
Willem Dafoe, has been seen on the set of Spider-Man 3. Not only that, but they
are also claiming that Willem Dafoe has been signed in to play the role of
Green Goblin (Norman Osborn), an old foe of Peter Parker.
However, it must be stated that the narrative of Norman Osborn
will be changed because the whole Tobey Maguire starrer Sam Raimi’s trilogy is
an intellectual property of Sony. Instead of that, the upcoming film will avail
itself to the alternate versions of these characters said to be existing in
different universes.
It also needs to be pointed that Willem Dafoe’s character in the
Tobey Maguire starrer had already died.
Considering all of that, we might be seeing a very different
version of Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin in the film.
Though there is no confirmation about the signing of Willem
Dafoe, we might hear about him soon, considering the budget and ambitions of
Marvel Studios. Apart from Willem Dafoe, it has also been suggested that Thomas
Haden Church, known for her role of Sandman in the third Spider-Man film, will
also play a cameo in Spider-Man.
Jon Watts will sit in the director’s chair, and other MCU
characters such as Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen are expected to be
a part of the project.
