Users
might have thought that Instagram is done with customizations on the home
screen. But Instagram has cleared the misconceptions of the users with its
redesigned version of the app. The company has rolled out a newly customized
layout that users can get on their home screen. In the navigation bar at the
bottom, Instagram has swapped ‘activity’ and ‘upload’ with ‘Reels’ and ‘Shop’
tabs respectively.
Reels
Tab is Now Front and Center
Instagram, in its recently redesigned version of the
app, has moved the upload and activity tabs to the upper-right corner of the
home screen. Both can be now seen beside the Messenger icon. Instagram has
directed its attention towards competing with other Reels-like competitors, and
this is the reason why it has managed to place ‘Reels’ on the front and the
center.
Previously, Instagram placed ‘Reels’ in the
navigation bar in place of the ‘Explore’ tab, but then the changes were taken
back after a while, and now the ‘Explore’ tab has regained its place which is
pretty impressive. But now, Instagram has come up with some new customizations.
Some of you might be thinking of why bringing
‘Reels’ to the front is so important for Instagram. Well, as far as we have
concluded out, Instagram wants to increase the viewership of short videos on
its platform, and it has also stated this through its recent blog post. The
blog post by Instagram states that Instagram wants Reels to become a ‘one of
its kind’ stage where users can easily share their creativity with others and
get connected with the right audience.
Placing the upload tab always showed the app’s
simplicity for uploading the content. But now, after bringing the ‘Reels’
feature on the front seems like Instagram has shifted its focus from creation
to consumption.
Instagram Reels debuted only a few months ago;
however, it is getting too much attention from the company. The recent change
clearly states that the customizations have been made to let the feature stay
longer and grow bigger.
Instagram
Adds a Dedicated ‘Shop’ Tab
Not only Instagram has focused on making ‘Reels’ a
more prominent feature of the app, but it has also focused on expanding its
‘Shopping’ feature. This feature lets users tag their products in stories and
posts. Instagram has now added a ‘dedicated tab’ for letting users explore new
products. Instagram, in its official blog post, stated that the users would be
able to access the recommended products through personalized suggestions, @shop
handle, shoppable videos and photos, new product collections from brands, and
creators.
Conclusion
So, this was all about the new Home Screen of
Instagram and the customizations that have been done in it. Instagram has
stated that users will now be getting quicker access to the ‘Shop’ and ‘Reels’
feature. Let’s see how the creators react to this redesigned home screen.
